Citigroup bans Credit Cards From Sports Betting: Long Live Chase and Amex

Have a Citi credit card or debit card? Don’t bother to try using it to bet on your fantasy sports sites.  Citigroup has barred its New York customers from making credit card transactions with DraftKings and FanDuelJennifer Bombardier a bank spokesperson said, “The ban will last until a decision on the sites’ legality is made by courts”. The sites are in a legal dispute with Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who calls them illegal gambling sites. The sites argue that their games are based on skill and therefore legal.

My K9 Web protection also categorized it as GAMBLING.

Luckily, Credit card Joint followers have other credit cards at their disposal. See all our latest cards on our Credit Card page. There are several good American Express and Chase offers that you can apply for.

DEAD: Citi AAdvantage Executive 100K Credit Card Bonus Signup Offer

Update : Dead

Still Alive!

The Citi Executive AAdvantage is now offering a 100,000 miles sign up bonus!

Citi Executive AAdvantage 100k Link

This is from the better deals we have seen from Citi bank recently.  This card was recently was giving a 75,000 mile bonus, but now it was upped to 100k. The Platinum AAdvantage card currently it is only 30,000. So this is your best offer from Citi Bank.

There are several factors to consider when applying for this card.

-There is a $450 annual fee. This fee is not waived for the first year.

-$200 credit after you spend $200 on the card. If you are going to keep the card open, $450 – $200 is $250 for 100,000 miles. This is a real good value of CPM (cent per mile).

-There is a $10,000 spending threshold in 3 months. If you are unable to hit the spend, it does not make sense to apply for this card

-If you are able to spend $10k in less then 30 days you can get the best of all worlds. 100k AAdvantage points and a $200 statement credit. But the best part is, if you cancel within 30 days of the annual fee hitting, you will also get the $450 annual fee refunded.

This card is a great way to earn 100,000 miles. We have not seen such a large signup bonus on a personal card since British Airways offered the 100k signup 3 years ago. If you can make the spend go for it!

Here are the cards benefits:

One reader emailed us that he bought iPhones from Apple and sold them on Amazon. Although he lost $5 on each sale, he was able to save $250 from the annual fee.

If you are unable to hit the spending threshold there is another option. There is a 60,000 mile signup bonus for spending only $5000.

Here is the 60,000 link

In summary:

If you can spend $10k within 90 days, and didn’t have a Citi Card application in the last 8 days, go for it. If you can hit the spend within 30 days, you hit the jackpot. If you are unable to hit the spend, there is a lower bonus lower spend too.

Citi AAdvantage 100k: Double Dip, Double The Fun – Double The Risk

Two weeks ago we wrote about the Citi AAdvantage 100k sign up bonus. This author can confirm receiving 110k AA points last week. For all those that didn’t apply, what are you waiting for? This offer is limited time, and is a great way to start of 2014. For more information about the card click here.

I have heard reports on dansdeals.com that people were churning this card. To churn a card, means to apply for the same card more then once. According to this Wiki on Flyer Talk, one can apply for a new Citi card after 8 days. This means you can double up your 100k to 200k!

This is wild! Citi bank is practically minting AA miles for us! A word of caution before doing this. A friend tipped me off that his brother in law met the spend, and called Citi to close his account. Citi told him that they are clawing back his miles, and opening an investigation into his accounts. I do not know if he booked a refundable ticket and canceled it after the miles posted. This is one method that I strongly do not recommend. In my opinion it is stealing from the bank.

If you do decide to churn this card, leave us a message what happens.

Happy Churning!

In Summary:

You are able to churn the Citi AA card. A word of caution to to become too greedy. Keep away from refundable tickets.
